Cannon hasn't been taking naps very good lately. I've still been putting him in his room for "quiet time" but he just plays the whole time while he's in there. I took this video last week at dinnertime on one of his napless days. I think my favorite part about it is the fact that he is still holding on to his quesadilla, oh and his awesome blue necklace that he wanted to wear.

My little sweet Lillian Sage is 6 MONTHS OLD today!! I know, I know, if you saw her you would think she is about 3 months old (this girl is tiny!) But to me she has gotten big, and it has happened way too fast! She is rolling all over the place, and is starting to scoot forward a little. She already has her bottom two front teeth! She loves to smile and laugh, especially for her big brother. She absolutley adores Cannon! He is usually pretty nice to her, but sometimes treats her like a boy and wrestles her to the ground. Here are a few pictures I took the last few days.

Christmas just flew by this year! It was a good one though. It was fun to see Cannon get excited about everything. He's old enough now to be excited about the presents and treats, but not old enough that we really had to spend a whole lot of money on him. He was ecstatic about the candy cane and bubble gum in his stocking, just as much as he was about his main present from Santa, a Thomas the Train set. It was also fun to teach him about the true meaning of christmas and read about baby jesus and play with his little toy nativity set. Baby jesus was his favorite figurine of course. We probably played "hide the baby jesus game" daily for a month. Lily had no idea what was going on, so we hardly got her anything. Her most exciting present was a glow worm that Grandma and Grandpa gave her.

We blessed Lillian last sunday at my parents house. Kevin gave a wonderful blessing and she was so good the whole time. I was a little worried that she would cry, but she just looked around at everyone. Kevin's parents came down from Idaho for the occasion which was nice!

For Halloween this year Cannon was a spider and Lily was a ladybug. Since they were both insects, kevin and I decided last minute to dress up as bug catchers. Of course Kevin had to put his fake teeth in to complete his costume.

My little sweet Lillian is 2 months old today! I cannot believe how fast this time has gone with her. Seriously, how do I slow time down? She loves to smile at anyone who will pay attention and talk to her! She is happy as can be as long as she is being held (don't even think of putting her down:) She will, however sit in her swing, or infant seat as long as I am in her sight the whole time and I stop and talk to her every minute or so. This girl LOVES attention. I don't mind though, because I'm sure I will miss this when she is a teenager and wants nothing to do with me:)

Cannon is such a good brother! He is always putting his arm around Lily, patting her head, and holding her hand. He always wants her to play with him and says "Baby Yiyee (Lily, he can't say L's) play cars" or "Baby Yiyee play blocks with me." I have to explain that she is too little to play, but soon she will be able to. I hope they will be good friends!

The majority of people have said they don't think Cannon and Lily look alike. But from day one I have seen glimpses of Cannon in her. I took this picture of her yesterday, and when I looked at it, it reminded me of Cannon at this age, so what do you think?

Jackson Hole and Yellowstone

We went to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone Park a couple weeks ago. Kevin had a one day job in Jackson so we spent one night and the next day there, and then went to Island Park, Idaho and stayed in this cabin that belongs to this nice lady that Kevin has done work for. From there it was only abot a 20 min drive to Yellowstone so we spent a day there. It was such a nice little weekend getaway.

The day before we left Cannon got stung by a bee under his eye. This is his third bee sting he has gotten. The kid does not learn to leave bees alone.

I had a photographer (lisa richardson photography) come over and do a little newborn photo shoot on Lily. Cannon was in a couple pictures too, and he was cooperating so nicely (with bribes of candy of course). I think she did a pretty awesome job!

It has been quite the adjustment these last few weeks with two kids. I am in awe of all you mothers who have multiple children, how do you do it? I have mostly felt guilty about Cannon, and I feel like I'm always neglecting him now. Luckily he is a pretty independent child, and is usually happy entertaining himself, but I still feel guilty. Cannon has been so good with Lily. He is so soft and gentle with her, and he really doesn't show signs of jeleousy. Also, I'm very thankful that Lily is such a good baby! She reminds me alot of what Cannon was like when he was a baby. She hardly ever cries and is such a good sleeper. I really hope this lasts, and it's not just her "newborn phase". Anyways, life is good, and here is just a few pics of what we have been up to lately.

We went up to Silver Lake one night and walked around. I think Lily enjoyed the fresh air, and Cannon always enjoys collecting rocks and sticks.

Lillian Sage Bake

Lillian Sage Bake was born on Sunday August 15th. She was two weeks early, weighing only 5lb 14oz, and was 19 inches long. She is so precious and we are all so happy to have her here and part of our family.

Bug Obsession

Cannon has been obsessed with bugs lately. It's cute to see him so excited, but he doesn't understand that all insects are safe to touch, such as spiders and bees. He caught a bee the other day and got stung so hopefully he wont try that anymore. We went camping last weekend and he caught a grasshopper and was holding it in his hand forever, just admiring it (I think it was old or slightly injured because it wasn't very spry and active like most grasshoppers). We have those big June bugs in our yard this time of year and Cannon loves to pick them up and hold them. I just hope he doesn't pick up a black widow spider or something like that. I have tried talking to him about not touching spiders, but I also told him about bees too, and he still caught one and learned the hard way by getting stung. What am I going to do with this kid?

Cannon's buzz cut

We decided it was a good time to give Cannon a good buzz cut. As much as I've loved his curls, his hair was just getting way too out of control. I forgot to take a before picture, but it was basically like the before picture on my previous post about his first haircut, except in addition to the mullet he had going, he was also getting this nice long toupee/comb over thing. I actually really love his new short do, and it is much easier to maintain and nice for the summertime.

Kevin and I went on a little trip to Maui last month for my good friend Jenny's wedding. It was an amazing trip, and was actually the first trip we've taken just the two of us since Cannon was born. It was also amazing because Jenny's generous family paid for all their guests to come down there! Although is was really hard to leave Cannon, it was a much needed vacation for the both of us. Thanks so much to Brian and Sarah and Kimberly and Ryan for watching the little buddy while we were gone.

Since I have been horrible at blogging lately, I just wanted to share a few highlights of the past several months. We took a trip to Parma to visit Kevin's parent's a couple months ago. I didn't take very many pictures on this trip, except a few when we all went on a little walk.

CANNON"S FIRST HAIRCUT!
We gave Cannon a haircut a couple months ago because it was basically turning into a major mullet! I was scared to death because I didn't want to cut his curls, but they have already grown back, and he pretty much has his mullet/receding harline hairdo again. We will probably be giving him another haircut in the next few days.

Don't be fooled by these pictures, Cannon is NOT potty trained, and is not even close to being potty trained. We just got him a potty seat and a little step, but he never want's to use it, and only does when we sit him on it and tell him to try and go. Any suggestions/tips/advice? I was hoping he would be somewhat trained by the time this next baby comes but I don't think that will happen!

Sorry, this picture is sideways. But this is what Cannon would do every night before we ended up getting him a big bed. A couple months ago he would climb out of his crib at nap time and at night, and then go set up camp in the corner of his room and just sleep on the floor. So we ended up getting him a big bed, and he loves it! He stays in it and sleeps all night!

Cannon loves motorcycles (thanks to Kevin). Sometimes Kevin will give him rides around the backyard. Cannon loves it, and feels so special!

Last month we got to see a bunch of the Bake's because they were in town for Kimberly and Ryan's wedding. We had everyone over to our house after the wedding, so I decided to celebrate Cannon's birthday at the same time.

Cannon has been loving train's lately so I made him a train birthday cake.

Wow, I can't believe it's been over 3 months since I posted! I don't know if anyone even looks at this blog anymore but if you do I will give you a little update (without pictures, sorry!). A few months ago our computer decided to inform us that he wasn't feeling well, and he actually came down with a serious virus. I'm not even sure if he's going to make it, but I thought I would let my brother give it a shot in trying to fix him. I told him to work on it when he has time, which he doesn't have a lot of, so it's still in repair. Luckily we have been borrowing a laptop from some friends so we can have something to use. So many things have happened in the last few months that I will try and post pictures of a soon as I can. Cannon turned 2 a few weeks ago which absolutely blows me away! I can't believe how fast he is growing up! Another big piece of info is that we are expecting another baby at the end of August, and it's a GIRL! I'm actually a little nervous about having a girl, but super excited at the same time! All I know is she's going to have to be pretty tough girl to have Cannon as an older brother:) I will try to become a regular blogger again in the near future and post pictures as soon as I can!

Things have been a little crazy at the Bake house for the last month or so. I was determined to blog a little update of all this craziness. Kevin had knee surgery last month. He tore his ACL while riding his dirt bike, yet he is still talking about going out riding as soon as he can. He says he will be careful from now on (so I guess he wasn't being careful all the other times :) Anyway, he is doing much better now. He is walking around pretty good with his brace. About a week after he had surgery I started a new job and have been training full time, so Kevin has been stay at home dad right now. This actually worked out pretty good because he was going to take a couple months off of work anyway to recover from surgery. Although he is not really sitting home recovering, he has started many projects on our house, starting with our bedroom (which is pretty much a construction zone right now), all while chasing around a wild toddler!

This picture was taken the day after surgery. Cannon was concerned about Kevin, and wanted to snuggle with him all day.

Christmas was good, even thought it seemed like it just flew by so fast! This was the first year since Kevin and I have been married that Mesa has been with us for Christmas Eve and Christmas day! It was really fun having her, and of course Cannon adores her!

I'm suprised Cannon didn't fall into a sugar induced coma after all the candy he ate on Christmas. This is a picture of him trying to inhale 2 candy canes at once!

Kevin's sister Kimberly got engaged last night! Ryan had planned a whole day of scavenger hunting/pampering for her. The end of the hunt involved Kevin dressed as Santa, who gave her a gift (the ring).

This year halloween was so fun with Cannon! I didn't think he would get the whole trick or treat thing but he caught on and loved it. We went in my parents neighborhood with some of Cannon's little cousins. The first couple houses we went to he would just walk inside their house, but then he caught on quickly that we were just there to get candy. He would even say "Tri tree " (Trick or Treat), "Ta too" (Thank you), and then " Ca" as he looked into his treat bag and saw all the candy he was collecting.

There is always a first time for everything right? And 18 months seems like a great age to start rock climbing right? Well I didn't think so, but with some persuasion from Kevin who assured me that Cannon would be perfectly safe and always strapped in his harness and hooked to one of us, I finally gave in. We just went to a little easy climb that you do before you get to the actual real climb. Cannon didn't really get what was going on at first, but ended up having a lot of fun!

We took a trip to Nauvoo to visit my parents who are Missionaries in the temple there. We flew to Chicago, and then took a train to a town outside Nauvoo. This was Cannon's first time on an Airplane, and he was really good. He loved the take off and the landing, but did get a little bored in the middle. Luckily we were able to keep him entertained, and he did fall asleep for a little while.

We had a fun filled weekend with lots of water, fireworks, family, friends and fun! Last thursday we went to my sister Michelle's house and went swimming and then went to watch fireworks. Cannon loved swimming of course, and he loved the fireworks for about five minutes and then he was bored, so he wandered around and tried to steal everyone's glow sticks while they were distracted with the fireworks, sneaky kid!

Memorial Day Weekend

We went camping over Memorial Day weekend. This was the second weekend camping in a row folks, and camping with a 14 month old isn't the easiest thing in the world so I'm quite proud of myself. But really, it was a lot of fun and we had a sweet camp spot in this meadow next to a stream and there was no one else around. It did rain on us most the night but we still stayed toasty warm inside the tent. Kevin's sister Kimberly came with us too, so that made it extra super fun:)Kev and Kim settin up the tent

Last weekend we went to Moon Lake. We took a canoe across the lake to our campsite, the same one we went to a couple years ago. Cannon loved the canoe and the water, he just hated wearing his lifejacket! I didn't do much paddling because I had to restrain Cannon from constantly trying to jump overboard into the lake, so Mesa and Kevin did most the paddling!

Cannon finally gave up trying to escape, so he fell asleep on Kevin's lap.

So I'm not a 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure Cannon ate a dead bird fetus. Wow, I never thought I'd start a post like that! Yesterday I was working in the garden with Cannon by my side, doing the normal things he does, dig in the dirt, eat the dirt, and the rocks, grass, sticks, etc. I came across this tiny little dead bird fetus just about an inch long. I left it on a little shovel and put it on the other end of the garden because I wanted to show Kevin when he got home from work. I kind of forgot about it as the time went on, and about an hour later I noticed Cannon was on the other side of the garden playing with the shovel the bird was on. I immediately ran over to him and that little bird was nowhere to be found! I looked all over, dug in the dirt around that area to see if he buried it, but nope that little bird was long gone. I could only think of one explanation and that is that he ate it. I have been looking for any sign of sickness (salmonella perhaps?) but it has been almost 24 hrs and he is acting just fine, no diarrhea or vomiting so I figure he's okay!? Wow, I feel like such a winner of a mom, I can't get my kid to eat anything normal all day, but the least I could do is just prevent him from eating a dead bird fetus!

I can't believe it was a year ago today I met my sweet Cannon. I remember after giving birth and holding him and thinking how lucky I was to have him. I also remember after he was bathed and then brought to my recovery room, the nurse said "Here you go, Congratulations!" and I thought to myself in a slight panic, "What?, I don't know how to take care of him myself! Does he come with instructions or something?" Even though I hadn't slept in 2 days, I couldn't sleep, and I just sat there staring at him as he slept. I had this overwhelming love for him which I still do today. Cannon has brought so much happiness to my life this past year, and I look forward to many many more! We celebrated his birthday yesterday and invited some family over for a little party. It was a fun time, especially watching Cannon destroy his cake but not eating any of it!

Cannon just started taking a few steps the last week! Now I can say he started walking before his first birthday, which is next week! The most he's taken so far is 6 steps. I think he takes 5 in the second video. The scab on his forehead is not a walking injury, it's from when he dived out of the bathtub onto the rug, he gets really wild in the tub!

Sometimes I wonder how Cannon is still alive. He hardly eats anything, but I think it's mostly because he hates being in his highchair. He will eat anything and everything he finds on the floor, so I was thinking I would just keep my floors super clean and then put his meals on the floor for him to find when he is crawling around:) I took Cannon outside with me to the garden to do some weeding and of course he wanted to eat everything he found: dirt, rocks, grass, etc. At first I kept taking everything away from him when he tried to put them in his mouth, but he would freak out and cry so I thought I would just let him learn that these things really don't taste good, but the problem is he kept putting them in his mouth!

Sledding

After all the snow we got last Monday we decided to take Cannon sledding. This was his first time and he loved it! We didn't mess around with any little baby hills either, we went straight to the big hill at Sugarhouse Park!

After sledding we went over to the pond to feed the ducks and geese. These geese are not scared of humans! In fact they are quite aggressive when they know you have something for them to eat. Cannon got a little scared when they got too close to him, and he pretty much just stared at them like they were the weirdest looking creatures he's ever seen!

A few weeks ago we decided to take snowmobiles up to the cabin for the weekend. It was so cold up there the first night, I seriously thought I was going to die! Now I consider myself to be a pretty tough gal, but when it comes to being cold, I will be the first to admit I am a complete wimp! The inside of the cabin stayed about 30 degrees the first night, but by the second day we got it warmed up to where I could tolerate it.

Cannon didn't seem to mind the cold, but I also had him dressed in like 20 layers and had the heater facing his crib at night.

The last several weeks have been pretty uneventful, so I haven't been blogging much, but I decided to just post a few pics of what we've been up to lately.

We've had some good times snowboarding this season. I've been so excited to go this year since I couldn't last year because I was pregnant. As you can see from this picture, Kevin's always excited about it too!

My brother Brad took this picture of me and Kevin at the top of a run at Solitude. Such a pretty day!

This day was bitter cold! My face was so frozen it was hard to smile, hence the forced cheesy and slightly painful look on my face!

This was the very first day I went this season. Since I hadn't been in 2 years, I was pretty rusty, so I seemed to be in this position a lot!

Cannon has braved many cold days with me in the jogging stroller. He loves it though!

On Monday morning Cannon broke out into hives. It wasn't too bad, just a few spots on his face and some on his legs. I called his doctor and he said that he's probably allergic to the antibiotic he's been on. We started him on one a week ago because he developed an ear infection. So I stopped the antiobiotic and gave him a little Benadryl.

Tuesday morning Cannon woke up completely swollen and red on his entire body. When I saw him I just cried because he looked like someone kicked the crap out of him! I didn't even recognize him. The picture below was taken Tuesday afternoon, he looked a lot better! I wish I would have taken a picture of him in the morning, but I was too busy freaking out! I took him to the Doctor to let him see it, and he said he was almost certain it is an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. He gave me a couple doses of a liquid steroid to reduce the swelling and pain. Kevin is hoping the steroid will also buff him up a bit too. Maybe we will have him start lifting weights and see if he gets huge.

His little hands were so puffy and red. He would cry whenever I touched them, poor buddy!

This morning he woke up looking and feeling a lot better! He still has some red spots, but most the swelling has gone away, and he is back to his happy little self!

Thanksgiving in Parma

We had a grand old time in Parma for Thanksgiving this year. This was the first time Cannon had been there so Kevin was excited to show him his old stomping grounds.

On the drive up there, Kevin got a little tired so we decided to let Cannon drive for a while.

I took this picture of Cannon as he was watching Kevin and Jeff try to untangle the dirt bike from the grape vines just after Jeff decided to flip it and ram it head on into the vines, with Ellie on the back mind you. Oh how I wished I would have got it on video.

Last night Kevin and I went to the Martin Sexton concert at The Depot with Kimberly and her friend Ryan. This guy really puts on a killer concert. I really like his style of music, it's like folk/rock/blues all mixed together. You can listen to a sample below, just turn off the playlist at the bottom of the page first. You can also check out http://www.martinsexton.com/. Besides listening to some great tunes, we were highly entertained by everyone's halloween costumes. A few favorite's were: Lt. Jim Dangle from Reno 911, Borat, a girl who wore cowboy chaps with spandex underneath, and the joker dressed up in a sexy nurse outfit who we thought was a guy, and then thought it was a girl (a manly one), but then concluded that it was a guy (thank goodness!). We were also entertained by the sweet dance moves that were displayed by all the drunk people. Good times!

For our family Halloween party we decided to dress up as a theme around Cannon's Pea Pod costume, so I decided to be a carrot and Kevin was a farmer with jacked up teeth.

I put 2 bottles of Elmers glue and a half a bottle of gel in my hair. (Thanks Kim for giving me the idea from your troll costume last year, and for coming over and helping me perfect my hair:)

Last Weekend we went to the BYU game against UNLV with some of Kevin's family. Jared, Jeremy, Janette and Brian and Renae came into town for the weekend. It was so good to see everyone! Thanks for hangin with us at our house! Please come again soon, hopefully next time our basement will be finised so our house is more visitor friendly! Well, The game was a good one, and BYU did win! I'm cool with cheering for BYU, but I must clarify that on Nov. 22 I will be wearing RED! GO UTES! (Please don't shun me out of the Bake family).

My neighbor was selling this almost brand new Exersaucer for $25. It's almost exactly like the one we saw at Baby's R US which was $80! Cannon stays entertained for at least 30-45 minutes, so my chances of actually getting something done for the day has increased.

Cannon is starting to crawl! He's not fast yet, but he can get anywhere he wants to go, it just takes a few minutes!

My two nieces, Sydney and Mallory got baptized this past Saturday. They both decided that they wanted to be baptized in the river up at our cabin. As an update to my previous post, Cannon has completely recovered from whatever he had, which I think was just some virus. He is now just as happy as ever! In fact, I swear he is even happier, and smiling more than before he was sick! I guess he had to experience the bitter to really appreciate the sweet!

We celebrated Mesa's Birthday this past weekend. She turned 10! She's in the double digits now!

She got 2 new Webkins to add to her collection! Yeah, they're just stuffed animals that you go online and take care of them, so you keep paying a fee to be able to take care of them on the Web. Why didn't I think of this idea first? Whoever created them is making millions now and it was such a simple idea!

Grandma and Grandpa gave her a sweet Leopard skin Caboodle with some goodies inside, A movie and a 100 dollar bill! ( not really, it's fake but they really gave her a 10 dollar bill).

So I had a little scare on Thursday with my little guy. He was acting fussy all day, which I just assumed was due to his teething ( he has one tooth on the bottom so far) but as the day went on, his fussiness got worse and worse, and he was starting to act a little lethargic, which is not like him at all. He was also not eating hardly anything the whole day. I decided to take his temperature, which was a little high (100.1 F). I also noticed he kept pulling at his left ear, so I was concerned he might have an ear infection. At his point it was after 5pm, so since my doctors office was closed, I decided to take him to Kids Care. When we got there his temperature had risen to 102.5 F. The doctor looked in his ears and they were both fine. She also looked in his throat which also looked okay. She said she was a little concerned because he REALLY didn't look good at all and she couldn't tell what was wrong with him. She recommended that I go up to Primary Childrens ER to have some blood work done, and possibly a Lumbar puncture to test his CSF for Meningitis. Me being the little paranoid mommy I am, I started to cry a little. I'm glad Kevin was there to be the tough one, and to assure me that everything would be okay. When we got to Primary's they took his vitals, and his temp had gone up to 39.9 C (103.8 F), and he seemed to be increasingly lethargic, and would cry if you moved him. So they ended up starting and IV and giving him some fluid, drawing some blood, which they had to come back and poke him again because they forgot to get enough for blood cultures. They also wanted to get a urine sample, which meant putting a straight catheter in to get a clean catch of urine. I felt like my baby was being tortured, and I felt like a horrible parent, but I didn't know what else to do. I wanted to make sure there wasn't something serious going on with him. Well ,to top it all off, the doctor wanted to do the Lumbar punture ( A needle is stuck in his back and cerebrospinal fluid is aspirated out). This was done to test for Meningitis. After a few hours of being in the ER (we were there until 1:30 am) They concluded that he DOESN'T have Meningitis, and his urine looked good. The only thing that we are still waiting for are the blood cultures, which can take a couple days to come back. Now it's 2 days later, and Cannon is still a little sick, but not nearly as bad as he was. Now I feel like I put him through all that torture for nothing. Was I being a paranoid parent? Should I have just kept him home and not taken him to the doctors in the first place? Kevin thinks it was just his teething, but I still don't think that would cause that high of a fever, and to cause him to act that way. I'm new at this parenting thing so I don't know. I'm just glad that he's doing a lot better.

I can't believe Cannon is 3 months old now! He is growing up way too fast. I guess all I can do is enjoy every moment with him because before I know it he'll be all grown up! Cannon Joseph Bake was blessed this past Sunday by his Dad. It was such a wonderful blessing and such a great day! We had so much support from both sides of the family. Kevin's parents even made a trip down from Idaho for the occasion, it was fabulous!

For Janette's birthday we decided to torture her and take her on what she would later refer to as "The Death Hike" (Lake Blanche).
